Ctrl-Alt-Shift Chantelle Fiddy Interview
Photograph courtesy of Matthew Gonzalez Noda
Chantelle Fiddy is the editor of brilliant magazine, activist movement and cultural phenomenom Ctrl-Alt-Shift. I met with her last Saturday and interviewed her about the mag's latest project United Underground 2. Read all bout it here.
That's me there. No, really. I am attempting to take my picture while having my mug photographed in order for it to appear on the tiled snapshots big screen! (See below) What one must do for art sometimes...

Andrew Majtenyi Fashion Illustration
Yesterday I attended the Andrew Majtenyi fashion show. This is my first time at LFW and it's rather intense! Shows after shows of beautiful clothes, jewelery and digital avant-garde- I am surprised I found it fun as I am more into art and design than fashion. But I always like a good frock! And that black model looked stunning on the catwalk. My fashion illustration is in today's Amelia's magazine, accompanying Matt Bramford's article. See it here.

Earth at the Royal Academy of Arts

I love the Royal Academy of Art. It’s a venue that is always a delight to visit and their blockbuster exhibitions are in my view great value for money. It is more fun than job duty to go on behalf of work to visit such shows! Earth: Art of a Changing World ran from the 3rd of December 2009 to the 31 of January 2010 and as I made my way to the RAA, I must admit I was intrigued by the title and did not know what to expect. GSK Contemporary 2009, the second annual Contemporary art season at 6 Burlington gardens, featured new and recent work for 35 leading international contemporary artists, including commissions from up and coming artists.

Valentine’s Day is soon to creep upon us and discharge its usual bile inducing or saccharine coated brand of bland commercial overload. What is a uniquely dedicated love-fest can make or break couples… How revealing the choice of a particular date night or specific card can be! Who said Lovers’ Day had to be like everyone else’s? The following suggestions of places to take her or presents to give him are for those who enjoy a good dose of self-parody or do care to treat their special loved one to a rare gift as cute as those lovely dimples!

Scream Pubs Copyright Infrigement
Scream pubs menu from last year
I do know my rights and copyright infringement is a serious thing. Last year I was commissioned to do all of the illustrations, handlettering and backgrounds for all the collateral associated to the Scream pubs chain.
Scream pubs are owned by Mitchells and Butlers, a huge corporation specialising in food and drink venues that not only owns the 68 Scream pubs scattered throughout the UK, but also the O'Neills and O'Bar One chains among others. I did the work for the money and I was quite surprised to be asked to do Food and Drink artwork as it is not my forte. The results were disapointing to me but I was told the client was happy. And then my credit card got paid off and that sweetened the blow of doing crap commercial work.
The Scream pub license I granted is running out at the end of the week. Yet their new website still features work of mine. And I want it down or they pay up. The account manager is telling me that the work there is not mine but that of another illustrator they commissioned to do the exact same stuff with just a few slight changes so they owe me no money.
Well, there is a name to describe exactly that and that is copyright infringement and you owe me lots of money!
